Due to the ongoing public health situation created by Sars-CoV-2 and COVID-19, all SVA events, including Arts in the Park, are postponed.
We have tentatively rescheduled Arts in the Park for September 13, 2020, subject to restrictions on gatherings being lifted and approval from the city.
In the meantime, we would like to pay tribute to Doug Sutherland, our long-time friend and long-time board member, who passed away unexpectedly in February.
Doug served as our treasurer, director at large, and vice president over the years, but his favourite role with the SVA was a reflection of his passion for the arts. Doug took over organization of our annual Arts in the Park exhibition several years ago, and transformed it into a vibrant celebration of local artists, writers, performers, culinary experts and artisans. He was in the process of creating a second event in September.
It’s time to take a bow, Doug. Thank you for your energy, talent, and commitment to community. We will miss you terribly and our hearts are with your family.
